Hovel in the hills!

Looking down on Moel Siabod
The well kept out buildings.

This charming cottage and outbuildings with magnificent views could tell us all some stories. The outbuildings are still in use and are in better repair than the house...the facia board above the door is in cut slate i've not seen this before..This cottage looks out over moel hiraethog to the front and the snowdonia to the rear .. and yes i was trespassing....worth it though.

If any of you ever read "The hovel in the hill's" by elizabeth west, this house is a neighbour of "Hafods".

I just love those pictures. That house will be holding some secrets I've no doubt. My dad used to stay at a small cottage in Bets-Y-Coed (sorry about spelling)and would walk up Snowdonia at least three times a year. That cottage looks a bit like yours except it was white washed.

I love 'Hovel in the Hills' it is a very often borrowed book in my library. I bought it years ago before I moved to Wales. I have always wondered where the house was. Have you read Running for the Hills?

I'm afraid i don't really know what you are talking about. But I love the mystery of old, abandoned cottages.

Beautiful pictures - those houses just look amazing - almost organic.

I must be a romantic, like you about derelict buildings. I always have a fascination for who lived there and what they looked like before they were left to ruin.

There is an old cottage up in the woods, but there is bareley anything of it left since the elements got to it. Such a shame and me and the boys always wonder who will have lived there...

warm wishes

PS-I do enjoy your little tree and now derelict properties blogs...lovely stuffx

These are such wonderful pictures and words. I am the same about abandoned houses. I am getting weirdly obsessed with Wales, the look of it, the feel of it (from what I gather from what I've read).

I always want to 'rescue and restore' places like this.
